Experiences &
Influences
and my path to Psychotherapy
What shaped me
My professional career began in competitive sports (including several years as a youth national goalkeeper). Early on, I learned to balance pressure, focus and regeneration in a responsible way. I then chose to study medicine (Heidelberg Medical Faculty) with clinical work in surgery, anaesthesiology, intensive care and emergency medicine among other areas. Later on I chose to pursue specialised training in music therapy.
I have experienced health crisis from different perspectives: as a patient of an extended illness, as a family member of seriously ill and accident victims, through clinical medical work, and as a psychosocial therapist. This multi-perspective experience helps me understand strain, hope and decision-making dynamics with nuance – and to stay focused on what supports you here and now.
These stages ultimately brought me to psychotherapy: the place where relationship, language, body and context meet and lasting change becomes possible.
Clinical Experience and Research
I have worked across a range of specialties in hospitals and outpatient settings (palliative and intensive care medicine, neonatology, oncology, neurology, social paediatrics, psychiatry). A key focus of my work has been music therapy, including leading research projects on heart rate variability (HRV) in relation to supporting wound healing, pain management and coping with illness.
Since completing my studies in music therapy, I have been conducting lectures at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems on psychosocial health promotion in special phases of life such as pregnancy and family planning.
This experience enhances my therapeutic work today: responsible, body- and context-sensitive, interdisciplinary, and tailored to the uniqueness of each individual.
